And because the city of Manila just suspended classes from the 9th to the 15th, everything changes. Mostly, we’d be using the e-learning setup on a regular schedule, meaning it still counts as class attendance. That said, I don’t think every prof will have something significant for us to do—possibly just a quiz lineup or a prompt in the core writing subject.

It certainly gives me time to finally get back on blogging for LaLD and do some bigger projects, which is a very good thing. That said, a week without school will be a blow because the exams are coming one or two weeks from now, so I’m anticipating some movements to the schedule.

Finally: THE CLOCKS ARE IN SYNC AGAIN!!! YAY!!! Now can you Americans just keep it that way? Jeez, it can’t be that hard.

I’ve yet to meet someone who likes changing the clocks. It’s stupid and needs to be put to pasture.

I would also like to fix our damn clocks. Specifically, I’d like Massachus ett s to move to Atlantic Standard Time year round (which is essentially where we are now). There’s been some effort to pass a law saying we’d switch if the rest of New England goes with us, but this sort of thing is hard to change.

I’m waiting for the city to quarantine me for two weeks. I’ve got plenty of poo paper (I think), and it would give me a reason to do all the home projects I’ve been putting off for years.

I’m so bloody sick of changing our clocks. This really needs to end. When my kids were younger, all it did was screw up their carefully crafted sleep schedule.

I mean just run this time system forever. Like, never change the clocks by autumn.

Maryland recently proposed a bill to keep us in EDT forever, which would make Sunday that last time we’ll ever change our clocks in the state.

I’m here for that.

My 3 year old and 1 year old were both miserable this morning.

Like try explaining to a 3 year old why we’re getting up an hour earlier

We just moved to Daylight saving time, so they are actually out of sync right now.  They should have left them on Standard time and abolish the Spring change we just did.

I’d rather we just stayed on EST and not changed the clocks for summer.

Then it gets dark too soon! I’d much rather have it be dark in the morning. Also Boston is actually pretty far east, so we have much worse alignment than say, DC.

It doesn’t need to be light out at 9 PM. I’d rather have the sun in the morning in the winter , easier to wake up. Also, kids don’t walk to school in the dark.

Some clocks are, some still aren’t; the cell tower at my studio still hasn’t updated. I woke up an hour late yesterday, and have had to switch the phone’s auto-update to manual. The computers are correct, but apparently the phone didn’t get the fucking memo.

Having it be light at 9PM would be great. And kids wouldn’t be walking to school in the dark. Even on 12/21 here in B oston, which is the most extreme major metro area for this stuff , sunrise was at 7:11, so it would be 8:11 and of course you have a significant period of twilight before that. That gives plenty of opportunity to get to school not in the pitch black even on the very worst case day.

Why do you need it light at 9 PM?

Also, you are on the wrong end of ‘ extreme’ for sunrise, the sun rises in the East and you get it first . Sunrise is at it’s latest in January in the northeast, for example it’s 7:14 in Boston, but after 7:40 in Pittsburgh for the first few weeks of the year. Permanent DST would make it 8:4 0 for sun rise in Pittsburgh , never mind actually getting light out, never mind a cloudy morning ....it would still be dark and cars would need headlights even in NY and Boston .

Kids don’t need to walk/bike to school in the dark, nor do anymore sleepy drivers need to be on the roads at the same time. Extending that window is, in my opinion, a bad idea. Other than recreational activities, I’m not sure what you gain having sunset any later than 7:30PM in the Northeast .

One of the states just voted to permanently stay on d aylight savings. The whole thing is dumb and needs to end. Stay on standard, move to DST, or mix the too and do a one time shift and offset the whole damn thing by 30 minutes.

So you can do stuff outside after work, which is nice? Also screw 9PM, it gets dark at 4PM in the winter here . Even 5PM would be a massive improvement, one I’d be happy to trade an hour of light before I wake up for.

And I’m not saying Pittsburgh needs to do it, I’m saying Boston should be on Atlantic time, not that Pittsburgh should be on Atlantic time.

I think that was Maine, but it still needs to be ratified or something.  Agreed...it’s the changing that needs to stop.   I fear that some will start to make their own rules and it will get worse before it gets better.
